The Opportunity:
The chance to take responsibility for the data that feeds an innovative risk analytics platform at one of the fastest growing London based FinTech start-ups. The successful candidate will work within a talented technology team but there is no requirement to have past tech experience, what’s required is a keen attention to detail and clear approach to problem solving.
About Us:
Carbon Underwriting is a new approach for the market. We are a specialist, independent, class agnostic Managing General Underwriter (MGU) writing to a mix of third-party capacity and our own Syndicate CBN 4747.
We are a young, dynamic company and recognise the importance of embracing modern technology to deeply enrich our offering. Without the baggage of legacy systems and mindsets, we’re building a next generation analytics platform to service the needs of both internal employees and external clients.
Now that Carbon has matured into a full syndicate, our team is growing.

The Role:
As a Data Operations Analyst, you will support the Data Operations Team Lead and ensure high standards of service. You will be responsible for compliance with service levels, ensuring bordereaux are processed accurately and promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process received bordereaux.
- Oversee the bordereaux collection process and escalate issues to internal stakeholders such as Underwriters and Claims teams.
- Problem-solve and liaise with brokers, coverholders, and TPAs when issues arise.
- Maintain effective communication at all times.
- Adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- Demonstrate high standards of written and verbal communication and numerical skills.
Required Experience
- Experience in managing and processing bordereaux.
- Ability to manage the bordereaux collection process and escalate issues effectively.
- Problem-solving skills and experience liaising with brokers, coverholders, and TPAs.
- Strong communication skills.
- Delegated authority experience.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- High standards of written and verbal communication and numerical skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in both Lloyd's and MGA environments.
- Progression towards Lloyd’s professional studies.
- Agile methodology experience.
- Interest in technology.
- Minimum of 1+ years working in the London Insurance Market.
We understand no-one can be an expert in all areas. The below gives a guide as to the skills we value:
- Extensive experience in reviewing and processing risk / claim / premium bordereaux
- Excel manipulation
- Experience in setting up and handling Lloyd’s Binding Authorities
- Experience dealing with risk reports
- Experience liaising with underwriters and clients
- Experience with DDM / IRIS or similar platforms
- Knowledge of the practices and processes of the Lloyd’s and Company market
- Experience with IMR / dealing with Xchanging / Lineage
